The passion and the profession of the entrepreneur

Actualizado: 18 dic 2021

Every passionate entrepreneur is as crazy and original as any other artist, be it a musician, writer or actor. And in his career he takes as many risks, or even greater, as any of the others. How many times does an entrepreneur have no other way to put his idea to the test than by committing all his capital. As the entrepreneur matures in his career, he also finds much more suitable ways of managing risks. Unfortunately, that knowledge comes with expensive experiences in most cases.

The passion of entrepreneurs leads them to get up again and again after each failure. Each failure makes them more adept at what they do and prompts them to try again in a better way. Many entrepreneurs have gone to college and gained knowledge of a profession. If they were lucky they took advantage of it and could apply it to their reality.

The truth is that most entrepreneurs fail in more than one attempt and experience bankruptcy in more than one of its dimensions, whether as an economic bankruptcy, reduction of self-esteem or family breakdown, among others. Does it sound familiar to some? And, of course, they would have given anything not to have had to go through such hard times. Afterwards, they have to rebuild their reality again.

Therefore, after having gone through several years of successes and failures as an entrepreneur, I want to share what led me to overcome many of the setbacks I faced. In short, my biggest mistakes revolved around not surrounding myself with the right people in my endeavors or trying to do it all alone. Therefore, if that was the disease, what was the cure?

Finding this cure was not easy. The pandemic had to come and force me to reflect on my entire journey and thus also gave me time to search calmly. I found it. This area of knowledge is called Project Management. There are many options to study it, at the graduate level, master's degree and certifications. In the end, I opted for the certification offered by Google through the coursera.org educational platform. I recommend it to everyone who is committed to their passion as entrepreneurs.

This study filled in notable knowledge gaps. Entrepreneurs are dedicated to bringing ideas to reality, and that is done through a project. To properly manage projects there is this discipline called Project Management. When one deepens the formality of this profession and knows tools that facilitate its execution, the passionate entrepreneur begins to become a professional entrepreneur.

If this study had been recommended to me early in my professional career, I most likely would not have done it. Suddenly someone told me, but I was so full of energy, passion and so convinced that I already had enough to do it. Well, I did not achieve it as expected. Some achieve and do not know why, others do not achieve.

And yes, if I had had the clarity that I have now on the subject, a lot of money would have been saved and a lot of pain would have been avoided. But life is like that and that also makes it tremendously interesting and fun. Make your life a great journey full of memorable moments, that is one of the definitions of wealth.
