Simplify

We live in the midst of complexity and an abundance of people, ideas, alternatives and information. On a personal level, we deal with an abundance of impulses, feelings and possibilities, all of which lead to decisions that also abound every day. Every day is an opportunity to take a new path or continue on the old one or simply take a nearby alternative to the previous path. This reality can overwhelm us, trap us and leave us immobile for quite a while until we learn to simplify.

Simplifying is returning to the essence of who we are and discarding everything else. The rest distances you, gives you many life lessons only to later return to the right path with greater humility, wisdom and determination. I have been in that situation on more than one occasion, so today I fight to stay on the same path, which is part of my essence of being, to which I am making slight adjustments. I may long for dramatic changes in difficult times, they are a vague idea without much foundation.

Difficult situations are when all your options would have a possible negative outcome, or all of them would have a positive outcome. How to differentiate between them can be a challenge. Being able to measure only makes sense if you are able to identify how each alternative brings you closer to or further away from your own being, your essence, your consciousness, the source of life.

Every project in life, even if successful, can be far from you, and even if it is a failure, it brings you closer to yourself. Therefore, being aware of who we are and what we want, in addition to knowing what our purpose and meaning of life is, makes it easier for us to simplify decision-making to accept or reject new challenges or projects. And make all of them one step closer to our own definition of success.

So, if you are in the midst of complexity and you may feel stuck, I recommend doing a self-awareness exercise to help you define your life purpose. Once you have a clearer idea, you will be able to simplify and navigate this life with more confidence.
